Setting up mobile proxies in the Best Proxy Switcher extension

Best Proxy Switcher is a browser extension for managing proxies: it stores several proxy servers and switches between them in a couple of clicks, without going into the browser or system settings. It is available for Firefox and Chrome, and in Chrome-based browsers it also covers what the browser itself cannot do — SOCKS5 with a login and password.

It suits those who keep several mobile proxies — for example, for different GEOs or tasks — and want to change between them quickly. Before you start, have the connection details at hand: address, port, protocol, login and password. With LTESpace they are shown in your account after you choose a plan.

How to install the extension

  • open the extension page in the Firefox add-ons catalogue or in the Chrome Web Store;
  • click Add to Firefox or Add to Chrome and confirm the installation;
  • pin the extension icon to the toolbar so it is always at hand.

How to add a mobile proxy

  • click the extension icon in the toolbar and open its settings;
  • add a new proxy;
  • enter the IP address or host name of the proxy and its port;
  • choose the type — HTTPS or SOCKS5 — to match the connection details;
  • enter the username and password of the proxy;
  • save the changes.

Give each proxy a clear name, such as the country and task — “CZ ads” or “US scraping”. With several proxies in the list, the name is the only thing that tells them apart at a glance.

How to switch between proxies

Click the extension icon and choose the proxy you need from the drop-down list. From that moment the browser sends traffic through it. To go back to a direct connection, choose the option without a proxy in the same list.

Add every proxy you work with the same way. Switching takes a couple of clicks and does not affect other programs on the computer: the proxy lives inside the browser.

Rules for selected sites

If the proxy is needed only on certain sites, set up rules in the extension: add a rule with the site address and choose which proxy to use for it. Other sites then open directly. For complex rule sets with many patterns, FoxyProxy is more convenient — see FoxyProxy with mobile proxies.

How to check that the proxy works

After switching, open any IP checker. It should show the address of the mobile carrier, the country and city of the chosen GEO and a mobile network as the connection type. If the old IP is shown, check the port, the type and the credentials, and make sure no other proxy extension or VPN is active — two proxy tools in one browser conflict.

Changing the IP

A mobile proxy changes its address by rotation. On an LTESpace private channel you change the IP by opening a special link or set it to change on a timer; a shared channel changes the address on its own, on a timer. The proxy stays the same in the extension, only the exit address changes. Details are in mobile proxies with rotation.
